Years 7 to 10 · new to Australia

Speaking like a local. Writing with confidence.

Some students want to speak more naturally, understand everyday expressions and feel more confident in conversation. Others need help with the grammar and punctuation that hold their writing back. This class works on both — everyday spoken English and stronger written English for school.

Why this matters

The gap is not ability. It is language.

A student can understand the maths, know the science and still struggle to show what they know in an Australian classroom. Every instruction, discussion, textbook and conversation now has to be understood in English.

Often, they know more than they can say or write. The goal is to give them the English to show what they are capable of.

Straight answers

Questions parents actually ask.

My child arrived only a few months ago. Is it too early?+

No. The sooner the English improves, the sooner everything else at school comes within reach. We start from what your child can already do, not from a fixed lesson one.

My child speaks English with friends but writes badly. Is this still right?+

Yes, and that is very common. Speaking English socially and writing it for school are two different skills, and this class works on both.

Can you help with pronunciation?+

Yes. It is one of the most common worries, and we work on it directly — the sounds that are hard to say, where the stress falls in a word, and the word endings that get dropped. The goal is to be understood easily and to feel comfortable speaking up, not to lose an accent.

What if there is no class at my child’s level?+

We will tell you honestly and put you on the list, then let you know as soon as one starts. One-to-one is available in the meantime from $90 an hour, and can be shared with a friend.

Is it in the Centre or online?+

Either, depending on when a teacher is available. Tell us which suits you and we will tell you what is running.

What does it cost?+

$300 for a 10-week term. One-to-one is from $90 an hour and can be shared with a friend.
