Where our curriculum comes from

We took the exam apart. Then built the lessons.

Our founder worked through the selective and OC papers question type by question type, asking the same thing each time: what is this actually testing? Not a topic — a skill. The answer became a curriculum of 75 trainable skills across the four parts of the test, and every lesson your child sits is aimed at named skills from it. So when a child struggles we are not guessing which chapter to revise — we know which skill is missing, and we already have a lesson built for it. That is the difference between teaching and just handing out harder questions.

Every lesson opens with a short warm-up in the real test format. It tells the teacher exactly which skill is missing today — not that maths is weak, but which step your child cannot do yet.

Maths & English Fundamentals

Everything else is built on strong fundamentals. We teach them properly, then take them past the school curriculum — so your child can apply them to harder, unfamiliar problems. Even if your child never sits the selective or OC test, this is the work that carries them through high school and the years after it.

The Selective Course

Full OC and Selective preparation — Reading, Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills under genuine exam conditions. Start early: this test rewards strong fundamentals applied to unfamiliar problems, not last-minute drilling. If those fundamentals are not there yet, take it alongside Maths & English Fundamentals — talk to us and we will tell you honestly what fits the time you have.

Writing Program (Online or Face-to-Face)

Grammar and punctuation taught properly, then the craft on top: how to show, not tell, how to find an idea worth writing about, and how to handle every style an exam can ask for. Your child learns to write for the marker, and to enjoy writing for themselves. Talk to us about which class is best for your child. Take it on its own, or alongside another course at a discount.

Fees are per 10-week term, with new intakes every term — in centre at Cabramatta or live online across Australia. Holiday practice-exam camps run between terms. Coding, game making and AI carry an additional software subscription fee. Discounts apply for more than one technology course, or for adding writing or public speaking. Beyond the exam

Technology, taught by someone who builds it.

Coding, game making and AI are taught by a qualified teacher who is also a software engineer with industry experience — someone who has built real software for a living, not a hobbyist working through a course. We also teach public speaking, as a separate course for Years 1 to 6 — the skill school assumes a child already has, and the one that decides how much of what they know ever gets heard.

Straight answers

Questions parents actually ask.

How does the online class actually work?+

Taught live by a teacher over Zoom, with your child working on an iPad in Plaito (plaitomaths.com). The teacher sees each child’s work as the lesson runs. Same lesson, same teacher, whether your child is in our classroom or at home in another state.

Where are classes held?+

In person at our Cabramatta Centre in south-west Sydney, and live online right across Australia — every state, same lesson, same teacher. If you are not within reach of Cabramatta, the online classes are not a lesser version; they run on the same platform, with your child working on an iPad.

Do you only do Selective preparation?+

Not at all. The Maths & English Fundamentals Course is a full program in its own right — teacher-led Maths and English for children who may never sit a selective test.

My child is in high school — can you help?+
